Women's Basketball Returns to Hardwood at No. 3 Baylor

WACO, Texas– After a nine-day break from game action, the Morehead State women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on with a road challenge against third-ranked Baylor on Wednesday at the Ferrell Center. The Eagles and Lady Bears are set to tip off at 1:00 p.m. ET.
 
Morehead State enters the matchup with a 7-2 mark having defeated Evansville, 85-63, on December 2. Senior guard 
Miranda Crockett recorded her second double-double of the season in the win with 21 points and 11 rebounds while junior guard 
Aliyah Jeune also chipped in 21 to help lead the Eagles to the win.
 
Baylor plays host with an unblemished 7-0 record and is coming off a 94-69 victory at 18th-ranked South Carolina. The Lady Bears have been paced this season offensively by Kalani Brown who averages 15.7 points per game. Baylor has emerged victorious in 42 consecutive non-conference home games, a streak dating back to January 13, 2014.
 
The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest and broadcast on the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Eagle Sports Network on 96.3-FM WIVY.

BRING ON THE LADY BEARS
Wednesday's matchup with Baylor will be the first meeting ever between the two programs on the hardwood. The Lady Bears, who are currently ranked third in the latest AP Top 25, are two-time NCAA National Champions (2005,2012) -- both won under current head coach Kim Mulkey. The matchup with Baylor is also the Eagles first game against a school in the current Big-12 alignment (MSU faced former B12 member Texas A&M on Nov. 20, 2000).

Morehead State is currently ranked top-ten nationally in
 EIGHT statistical categories. Offensively, the Eagles rank 
3RD in points per game (89.3), 
9TH for field goal percentage (49.5), 
9TH for total assists (185), and 
10th in assists per game (20.3). On the defensive side of things, MSU ranks 
6TH in steals per game (13.8), 
6TH in total steals (124), and 
4TH for turnovers forced per game (25.33). The Eagle +8 turnover margin ranks 
10TH.
 
THE LONE STAR STATE
The Eagles are making just their second-ever appearance in the state of Texas when they tip off at the Ferrell Center on Wednesday. The last and only trip to the Lone Star State ended with an 82-73 loss to Texas State on Nov. 25, 2000.
 
CLIMBING THE RANKS
Miranda Crockett moved to 15th in the all-time Morehead State scoring ranks following her 21-point performance against Evansville on Sunday, Dec. 12. Crockett now sits at 1,396 points for her career and is just 97 points away from cracking the top ten. The guard also sits at 5th for all-time steals with 194 career swipes.
