Women's Basketball Road Swing Continues at Radford

RADFORD, Va.
– The Morehead State women's basketball team will play its second-of-three games away from Johnson Arena on Saturday against Radford. The Highlanders play host to the Eagles for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at the Dedmon Center.
 
Morehead State enters the matchup with a 7-3 overall record after falling to No.3 Baylor on the road Wednesday. The Eagles drained 12 triples in the game but the size of the Lady Bears proved to be the deciding factor in a 96-58 defeat.
 
Radford sports a 4-3 overall mark and is coming off a win over Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia on December 8. The Highlanders downed the Cavaliers 57-44 after racing out to a 19-point halftime lead and holding on for the win down the stretch.

GAME NOTES
 
HELLO HIGHLANDERS
Radford holds a 5-4 advantage over Morehead State in a series that dates back to 1977. The last meeting was a win for the Highlanders by a score of 93-85 on Nov. 27, 1994 in Morehead.
 
COMPETITION FROM THE BIG SOUTH
Radford is the second team the Eagles will play from the Big South Conference this season, having already knocked off Gardner-Webb on the road 84-69 on Nov. 11.
 
DEADLY FROM DEEP
The Eagles sank 12-of-30 triples in Wednesday's game against Baylor. The 12 made threes are the most MSU has made in a game since draining 13 against Murray State on Feb. 24, 2014. Senior guard Miranda Crockett even got in on the action, sinking the first two triples of her storied career at Morehead State.
 
NATIONAL RANKS
Morehead State is currently ranked top-ten nationally in FOUR statistical categories. The Eagles bolster on of the top scoring offenses in the nation, ranking 9TH in points per game (86.2) while also ranking 5TH in total assists (197). On the defensive side of things, MSU ranks 5TH in total steals (129), and 9TH for turnovers forced per game (24.5).
 
CROCKETT REACHING RECORDS
Miranda Crockett now sits at 1,410 points for her career ranking her 15th all-time in scoring. The Martinsville, Va. native is just 83 points away from cracking the top ten in MSU record books for scoring. The guard is also 5th for all-time steals, swiping 194 over her career.
