Women's basketball seeks season sweep of TSU in Music City road trip

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State women's basketball looks for its third sweep of an Ohio Valley Conference opponent this season with a road trip to Nashville, Tenn. for a matchup with Tennessee State on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The Eagles (18-9, 9-5 OVC) defeated the Lady Tigers (5-18, 3-11 OVC) by a score of 97-81 on Feb. 1 at Johnson Arena, marking their highest scoring output of the conference season. Six MSU players scored in double-digits in the win, led by a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double from senior forward Eriel McKee.

Morehead State is coming off a tough 59-56 loss at Eastern Kentucky last Saturday, despite a game-high 18 points from Erin Blaine. The 5-foot-11 forward earned her second OVC Newcomer of the Week award for the scoring outburst. Tennessee State is fresh off a 62-61 loss at Jacksonville State.

OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Last Tuesday, Blaine was named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season. The former Howard transfer garnered her first OVC Newcomer of the Week award on Dec. 19. Junior center Tierra McGowan earned the title six times before going down with injury.
