Women's Golf Concludes Spring Opening Amelia Island Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday

FERNANDINA, Fla. – Morehead State women's golf concluded the opening tournament of their spring schedule with four of five golfers improving their round totals on Tuesday. The Eagles wrapped up the Amelia Island Collegiate Invitational in 15th.
Morehead State opened Monday's first round with three Eagles carding a 78, good for six-over par heading into the second round. In the second round, sophomore
Gypsie Hutchinson fashioned the Eagles' lowest score of the event, shooting a two-over 74.
In Tuesday's final round, the Eagles improved their team 18-hole total from their previous round. Freshman
Barbara Roether and junior Ana Dieguez led the Eagles, carding a 79 apiece. Seniors
Sarah Debnekoff and
Ebba Gustafsson each lowered their scores from the previous round, posting an 81 and 84, respectively.
For the event, Hutchinson paced all Eagle golfers, posting scores of 78-74-81-233, placing tied for 38th. Roether (81-82-79-242) and Dieguez (78-85-79-242) finished the two-day event tied for 66th. Debnekoff (78-88-81-247) finished tied for 74th, while Gustafsson (89-92-84-265) finished 78th.
Morehead State returns to action March 5-6 when they head west to compete in the Battle at Boulder Creek. The two-day event will take place at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nev.
