MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Baseball takes to the road again this weekend when the Eagles battle Alabama A&M in Huntsville. The three-game set is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET Friday.

Weather could alter the schedule, but games two and three are set for Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m as well. All games this weekend will feature live audio on MSUEagles.com.

Morehead State (2-3) has faced the Bulldogs in two of the last three seasons, all at home. The Eagles defeated AAMU on consecutive days in 2015 and also handled them in Morehead last year, 12-2 and 13-6.

Alabama A&M is 3-1 in 2018, including a 4-1 win at home over OVC foe Murray State on Tuesday. The Bulldogs also took two of three from Fort Wayne last weekend.

Morehead State has received solid pitching so far in 2018 and is waiting to get the offense in gear. MSU's pitching staff boasts a 4.60 ERA with 49 strikeouts in five outings. Likely starters this weekend are lefthander Dalton Stambaugh (1-0, 0.00 ERA), righthander Jake Ziegelmeyer (0-0, 8.10 ERA) and righty David Calderon (0-1, 2.57 ERA), but that could be adjusted depending on the game schedule.

At the plate, senior second baseman Braxton Morris tops the bats with a .308 average and a .565 on-base percentage.

GAME NOTES

TAKING THEM FOR THE TEAM
Senior second baseman Braxton Morris has been hit by 40 career pitches, and that ranks second all-time at Morehead State. Morris, who has been plunked three times already in 2018, needs 12 to tie J.D. Ashbrook (2007-10) for the record.

CAREER OUTINGS
Three of the Eagles' starters - LHP Dalton Stambaugh, RHP David Calderon and RHP Jason Goe - all set career highs for strikeouts in their first outings of 2018. Stambaugh fanned eight last week against Ball State. Calderon sat down nine UMass Lowell batters, and Goe struck out six against BSU on Sunday.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Dalton Stambaugh earned the first Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honor in 2018 on Monday. He shut out Ball State for seven innings and had a career-best eight strikeouts while only giving up four hits, all singles.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
Through five games, Morehead State has only committed two errors. That's good for a .989 fielding percentage, which ranks second in the league so far.
