MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State freshman third baseman Bryce Hensor put together a four-hit game, but it came on the short end of a 10-4 decision to Austin Peay in the teams' OVC series opener at Allen Field Friday.

The Eagles fell to 24-15 overall and 11-5 in the league.

"We hit the ball well the first time through the order and had pretty good at-bats," said head coach Mike McGuire. "But for the middle four or five innings we didn't do anything, and we have to be engaged for the whole game. This is an important series."

Hensor was 4-for-5 but was the lone Eagle to register multiple hits.

Austin Peay surged to a 4-0 lead after four frames and then busted it open with a three-run homer by first baseman Parker Phillips in the fifth.

The Govs went on to lead 10-0 before the Eagles mounted a late rally. Hensor recorded an RBI single in the eighth before MSU scored three times in the ninth. Pinch hitter Tyler Niemann nailed an RBI double down the right-field line, and Hensor collected his second RBI on a single through the right side. An RBI ground out by junior Niko Hulsizer ended the scoring on the night.

MSU starting pitcher T.J. Satterly (1-1) was tagged for six earned runs through five frames with five strikeouts. APSU starter Michael Costanzo went eight innings and and only had one run charged against him.

Junior shortstop Reid Leonard did single to open the ninth inning and extend his reached-base streak to 31 games.

The teams will continue the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
