Braxton Morris Signs with the Frontier League's Washington Wild Things
WASHINGTON WILD THINGS RELEASE

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Following a record-setting career that began and concluded with Morehead State participating in an NCAA Baseball regional, Braxton Morris has signed a contract with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.

Morris will be active for Tuesday's series opener at the Gateway (Ill.) Grizzlies.

"Braxton joins us after a very successful senior season and a run into the NCAA regionals with Morehead State," said assistant general manager of baseball operations Tony Buccilli. "We look for him to add some defensive versatility to our infield and believe his diverse offensive game will translate professionally."

An Albertville, Ala., native, Morris set the MSU career record for games played with 227 and ranks among the all-time leaders in at-bats (826), runs (188), hits (273), doubles (56), and RBI (154). He ranks second in career times being hit by a pitch with 48.

Morris, along with two other four-year seniors in 2018, became the most successful senior class in program history with 143 victories. He is also the winningest everyday starting position player in program history as he started 221 of the 227 games he appeared in.

Defensively Morris became one of the nation's best at turning double plays. From his second base position, he helped turn 158 career double plays.

The oldest currently active independent pro baseball league, the Frontier League has 12 current teams. Washington plays in the East division, along with the Joliet (Ill.) Slammers, Lake Erie (Avon, Ohio) Crushers, Schaumberg (Ill.) Boomers, Traverse City (Mich.) Beach Bums and Windy City (Crestwood, Ill.) Thunderbolts.

Current MSU assistant coach Kane Sweeney is a former member of the Wild Things and was a league all-star. Former Eagle pitcher Pat McGuff pitches this season for the Evansville Otters of the west division in the Frontier League.
