Matt Hilkens Joins the Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Matt Hilkens, who helped lead Hillsdale (Mich.) College to a conference championship in 2017-18, has joined the Morehead State women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.

A three-year member of the staff at Hillsdale, Hilkens helped guide the Chargers to a 19-11 mark and the 2017-18 Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament title in the school's first year in the conference. They advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament.

"Matt will bring a great work ethic to our program," said head coach Greg Todd. "He has been the top assistant to two excellent head coaches at Hillsdale, and he will help develop our perimeter players."

Prior to his stint at Hillsdale, Hilkens served two seasons as assistant coach at Siena Heights (Mich.), where he was instrumental in guiding the team to consecutive 26-win campaigns and back-to-back berths in the NAIA national tournament. While on staff, Hilkens mentored two players to Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America accolades.

Hilkens was an assistant coach at Owens Community College in Ohio in 2012-13, coaching a First-Team All-Conference guard and helping lead the team to a 28-8 record.

Hilkens also assisted on the staff at his alma mater, Toledo. He was the Southern Michigan program coordinator for the Michigan Elite AAU travel-ball program.

Hilkens graduated from Toledo in 2012 with his bachelor's degree in communications and earned his masters degree in organizational leadership from Siena Heights in 2015.
