Three Home Matches Punctuates Beach Volleyball's 2019 Slate
2019 SCHEDULE

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Entering the program's third season and its first as an affiliate member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Morehead State beach volleyball has announced its 2019 slate. Two tournaments and three home dual matches punctuate the schedule.

"We are excited about the competitive schedule we have been able to put together for this season and the opportunity to host three home events is a great addition for our fans," said head coach Jaime Gordon. "We are also looking forward to competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference for the first time and setting goals towards postseason play."

The Eagles open the 2019 season on the road for much of the month of March, facing two tournaments and a matchup with a 2018 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships participant.

Morehead State opens the month, trekking north to compete in the Principia College Beach Bash in Fort Wayne, Ind. on March 1-2. The two-day event features matches with Principia (Elsah, Ill.), Stevenson (Pikesville, Md.), Ottawa (Kan.), Carson-Newman (Jefferson City, Tenn.), and Tusculum (Greeneville, Tenn.).

The Eagles conclude their road swing on March 23-24, taking on the UNC Wilmington Dig and Dive Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. While in the Tar Heel State, Morehead State will face the host Seahawks, Tusculum, Carson-Newman, and the College of Charleston (S.C.). Sandwiched between the two tournaments is a single match with last season's number six seed for the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships, the Gamecocks of South Carolina. The pairing also marks the first time since 2017 that the Eagles will face a ranked opponent as South Carolina finished last season ranked ninth.

Morehead State opens a three-game slate of home matches, hosting a pair of dual matches with traditional Ohio Valley Conference rivals Eastern Kentucky (March 26 and April 2) and Austin Peay (March 30). The Eagles and Colonels will face off four times across the two dates as Eastern Kentucky enters into the first year of their program. Morehead State's matches with the Governors marks the first pair of matches in ASUN play.

ASUN play concludes with six additional matches against three institutions. The Eagles travel to Conway, S.C. on April 5-6 to take on Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville State for a pair of matches split between the two days before wrapping up the slate at North Alabama on April 13.

The ASUN Beach Volleyball Championships are set for April 19-20 in DeLand, Fla.
