Football Falls to San Diego Despite Another 100-yard Effort from Aguero

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --
Despite another 100-yard rushing effort from junior back Issiah Aguero, Morehead State football could not keep up with host San Diego Saturday, falling 52-20.

Aguero moved his season rushing total to more than 800 with a 111-yard performance against the Toreros. The Eagles slipped to 5-6 but can still finish with a six-win season as they host Stetson next Saturday at 1 p.m. ET in the season finale.

HOW THE SCORING TRANSPIRED

- San Diego opened up a 45-0 lead before QB DeAndre Clayton found junior WR Jordan Huffman for a 48-yard scoring strike at the 1:21 mark of the third quarter.
- Clayton connected with WR DeVonte Adams on a 20-yard TD with 3:49 left.
- Clayton accounted for the Eagles' third TD as well, running it in from 14 yards out as time expired in the game.

KEY STATS

- Aguero rushed only 14 times and averaged 7.9 yards per rush.
- After starter Mark Pappas was forced to leave the game, Clayton finished 10-of-17 for a career high 133 yards and two scores.
- Adams led the receivers with 71 yards on five catches.
- Linebacker Vincent Winey led the defense with a career-best seven tackles.
- Defensive end Vaughn Taylor, Jr., added another tackle for loss, giving him 16.5 for the season - a PFL best.
- Morehead State finished with 368 total offensive yards.
