MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Following an exhilarating double-overtime victory in the season opener Tuesday, Morehead State men's basketball gets right back to work. The Eagles push on in the 2019-20 schedule hosting Spalding (Ky.) on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.

The game will be on ESPN+ and WIVY-96.3 FM. Rowan County school-age children are encouraged to come with their parents or guardians as well as other local elementary-age children for what will be a kids themed night.

Spalding, a Division III team and members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will be opening its season Thursday. Nicknamed the Eagles as well, Spalding was 11-14 in 2018-19.

GAME NOTES

• Morehead State meets in-state opponent Spalding (Louisville) for just the second time in program history. The only other meeting came in 1995, a 110-97 Eagle win in Johnson Arena.

• Morehead State's double overtime victory over Samford Tuesday was the only double-overtime contest in Division I - the first multiple OT battle in the nation for the 2019-20 Division I slate.

• Senior guard Jordan Walker is a member of the official Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference squad, one of just three returning players to be on the preseason list.

• Jordan Walker led Morehead State with 25 points in the season opener, including scoring 13 of the Eagles' final 19 points in the first half. He helped propel a 19-3 run to end the half with the Eagles leading 35-30. His point total was the highest for an individual among the nine OVC opening-night games.

• Freshman forward Tyzhaun Claude posted a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds) in his collegiate debut and registering a team-high 20 points in the exhibition game versus Kentucky Christian.

• Tyzhaun Claude posted the second-best rebounding effort for a freshman (11) in the nation for season-opening night, trailing only Villanova's Jeremiah Robinson-Earl who had 13.

• Sophomore guard Malik Riddle re-wrote his career-high sheet against Samford. He posted career bests for points (17), rebounds (7), assists (2), field goals made (6) and three-pointers made (2).

• Junior forward James Baker tied his career high with 20 points while also grabbing seven rebounds in the win over Samford.

• Morehead State outscored Samford in bench points (31-12) and points in the paint (48-38).

• Morehead State will take part in the 2019 Hall of Fame Classic presented by ShotTracker. The Eagles will host Maryland-Eastern Shore as part of the event and travel for games at Missouri, Butler and William & Mary.
