MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State softball team is set to play its first home games of the 2019 season over the weekend when they host St. Bonaventure and Bowling Green in the Morehead State Classic on Saturday and Sunday at University Field.
The Eagles (0-13) are looking to secure their first win of the season and will have four chances to do so as they play both the Bonnies and Falcons twice in Classic.
"We're excited to finally get to play on our home field," said first-year head coach
Samantha Jones. "We've been working on winning small battles starting in our practices, weight room and conditioning workouts, and inside the classroom. Our players and staff are trying to continuously build upon the foundation we have set in fall. We're looking forward to these games to get us prepared for Ohio Valley Conference play which is right around the corner."
On Saturday, Bowling Green and St. Bonaventure will kick the two-day event off at 11:00 a.m. The Eagles are slated to play the Bonnies at 1:30 and the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both games featuring Morehead State on Saturday will be streamed live on ESPN +.
On Sunday, the two visiting schools will meet again in the day's opening game at 10:00 a.m. The Eagles will then face off with St. Bonaventure at 12:30 which will be followed by immediately by the final game of the weekend with MSU battling Bowling Green.
The Falcons enter the classic with a 6-11 overall mark while the Bonnies are currently 2-8 overall for the season.
Sunday's game's promotion is "Bark in the Park" as fans are allowed to bring their four-legged friends out to the field for a fun day of softball. Admission to Sunday's games will also be free to all fans.
