LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Morehead State track & field senior
Justin Moakler, freshman
Dakorria Winstead, and junior
Maya Andrews were the cream of the crop in their particular individual outings, taking home first places finishes in the 800-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter dashes, respectively, Saturday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
Moakler, a native of Brampton, Ontario, Canada clocked in with a 1:52.83 in the men's 800-meter. Not too far behind him in second was fellow Eagle, junior
Aaron Wier, recording a 1:53.20.
Winstead, a product of Owensboro, Ky., reached the finish stripe in 12.41 seconds in the women's 100-meter.
Andrews, local to West Chester, Ohio, brought home a final time of 25.93 in the women's 200-meter.
Elsewhere in the Bellarmine Invitational, Morehead State's 4x400 meter relay team placed first, led by sophomores
Cody Chism,
Darby Pillow,
Mikah Bailey, and freshman
Cole Clever. The tandem led all runners with a 3:25.87.
The Eagles took home four of the top six spots in the men's 1500-meter sprint. Bailey and junior
Jarrett Mattingly made it home within a few hundredths of a second of the other, posting times of 3:58.59, and 3:58.75, sequentially. The pair finished second and third.
Rounding out the top-heavy performance by MSU in the 1500-meter event were seniors Shane Risgby and
Corey Tooke, tabbing times of 4:02.32, and 4:02.77, placing fifth and sixth.
Morehead State track & field returns to action next weekend. The men's team will have participants in the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Asuza, California, as well as the Long Beach Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the women's team and other male members will be heading down to Atlanta, Ga., for the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
