Men's Golf's Cooper Collins Becomes Fifth Eagle to Claim Multiple All-OVC Honors
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – For the second consecutive season, Morehead State men's golfer Cooper Collins has garnered postseason honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Lexington, Ky. native was named to the 10-member All-OVC Team, becoming one of five members of the all-league team to have earned the honor in multiple campaigns. Collins is also the 20th men's golfer in program history to be named All-OVC.

In earning back-to-back All-OVC nods, Collins becomes the fifth Morehead State men's golfer to earn multiple All-OVC honors, joining Charles Bowles (1979, 81 & 82), Phillip Dawes (80 & 82), Nick Atzinger (2001 & 02), and Logan Hogge (15 & 16).

"It's always great to be recognized by the coaches of the Ohio Valley Conference," said head coach Matthew Martin. "This is a great honor for Cooper and he has had a great season with several high finishes."

Across eight events and 23 total rounds, Collins fashioned a stroke average of 71.9, an average that ranks third in the OVC. On the year, he collected five top-10 finishes, including a season-best fourth-place finish at the Murray State Invitational.

During the 2019 campaign, Collins fired each of the three-lowest rounds of the season for Morehead State, totaling nine total rounds under-par this season. His lowest round of the year came at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate as he fashioned a final round 66, a mark that stands as Collin's career-low round. His round also helped Morehead State to shatter a pair of school records as the Eagles fired the lowest 54-hole total (847) and 18-hole total (278) in program history.

Being named to the men's golf All-OVC team adds to a full list of awards that Collins has received this season as he was also named OVC Golfer of the Week on Oct. 3 and OVC Golfer of the Month for October during the 2018-19 season.

"After battling mononucleosis early this spring, he's worked hard to come back and compete at a high-level. This award validates those efforts," concluded Martin.

Collins and the Eagles continue play at the 2019 OVC Men's Golf Championships with two additional rounds to be played Monday and Tuesday. Currently, Morehead State sits eighth following the opening round of the OVC Golf Championships with round two set to commence for the Eagles at 9:50 a.m. ET Monday.
