MOREHEAD, Ky. -- A solid showing by the Morehead State Rifle team on Saturday wasn't quite enough to top visiting Akron at Button Rifle Range. The Zips, ranked fourth nationally, narrowly edged the Eagles, ranked 15th nationally, 4,668-4,647.
Freshman
Bryce Ward set personal bests for Air Rifle (577), Smallbore (576) and aggregate total (1153). Included in that was a personal high for Smallbore standing at 189.
On the Air range, senior
Alexa Potts tallied a team-best 593, while junior
Ryan Hinson and freshman
Grace Weber both nailed down 586 totals. Sophomore
Amber Schifano came in next with a nice 584 score.
In Smallbore, sophomore

Morehead State is idle until Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 when Georgia Southern visits for a pair of weekend matchups.
