MOREHEAD, Ky. – New Morehead State baseball coach
Mik Aoki and his staff haven't suited up for a game yet but the staff has been hitting the recruiting trail hard since coming to campus and have signed seven new additions who will join the program for the 2021 season.
The latest diamond Eagles are right-handed pitcher Paul Rector, corner infielder Jackson Feltner, infielder Ryley Preece, catcher Charlie Tull, right-hander David Stich, righty Noah Olson and outfielder Jacob Ferry.
Rector is a 6-1, 185-pound righty from Broken Arrow, Okla. He will be a junior in 2021 after two seasons at Johnson County (Kan.) Community College. Rector earned Second-Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference as a freshman. He attended Victory Christian High School prior to JCCC.
Feltner is a local product from Lawrence County (Ky.) High School. The 6-3, 220-pounder was a Second Team All-State selection and led the state of Kentucky in home runs with 14 in 2019. He also hit .429, drove in 55 runs, scored 50 runs and had 51 hits, including two triples and 13 doubles.
Preece will also stay relatively close to home, hailing from Johnson Central (Ky.) High School. He is a 5-11, 170-pound infielder who also had a 1.29 ERA in 2019 with 56 strikeouts, tied for 25th in the state. In the batter's box, he was 15th in the state in hits with 56. He also had 37 RBI and led the Golden Eagles with a .463 batting average.
Tull, a 6-3, 215 backstop, will venture north from Kennesaw, Ga., where he preps at Harrison High School. He helped his team finish in the final four in Georgia 6A in 2019. Tull is ranked Top 500 nationally and ranked 18th best catcher in Georgia by Perfect Game. He was on the 2019 PG Southeast Showcase Top Prospect Team.
Stich is a 6-4, 230-pound hurler from Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas where he is enrolled at Cornerstone Christian. Stich is an Under Armour Preseason All-American. He was also named Honorable Mention All District in 2017 and Second-Team All-District in 2018.
Olson will head east from Buckeye, Ariz., where he plays for Verrado High School. A 6-6, 215-pound right-hander, Olson is the No. 4 ranked right-handed pitcher in Arizona and is ranked in the top 500 nationally.
Ferry is a 6-2, 200-pound outfielder from Aurora, Ill. He attends Oswego East High School and is the No. 9 ranked outfielder in his home state. Ferry is also a top 500 nationally ranked signee.
