RESULTS
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Morehead State rifle shot in the Kentucky Long Rifle Cup Saturday at UK's Barker Hall Range, pitting the Eagles against the host Wildcats and Murray State.
In this match, all six shooters on the line for each gun counted. The Eagles finished with a 3421 in Smallbore and a 3510 in Air Rifle for an aggregate of 6931. For NCAA scoring purposes (shoot 5, count 4), MSU's Air Rifle total of 2355 was the fourth highest total in program history.
In Air Rifle, solid scores were turned in all around. Junior
Erin Diehl paced the group with a 592, while fellow juniors
Katie Frye (589) and
Amber Schifano (587) were close behind. Sophomore
Grace Weber also scored a 587, while freshman
Andrew Morris shot a 581. Sophomore
Bryce Ward rounded out the scoring with a 574.
Diehl shined also in Smallbore, leading the way with a 584. That was good enough for an 1176 overall, the fifth best score of any shooter at the event today. Ward reached the 580 plateau as well.
This match marked the 2020 finale for the team as they now take the winter break before returning to action on Jan. 23Â at VMI.
