MOREHEAD, Ky. --
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's exactly what Morehead State men's basketball and Arkansas State have done. With cancellations to both programs' early season games, the schools agreed upon a Sunday afternoon matinee at 4 p.m. ET in Johnson Arena.

No general fans will be permitted but the game will air live on ESPN+ with Dean Hardin and Matt Wilson on the call. Chuck Mraz and Tom Lewis will have the audio call on MSUEagles.com and WIVY-96.3 FM on the Eagle Sports Radio Network.

Both teams are looking to get into the win column. The Eagles are 0-2 after setbacks to Kentucky and Richmond. The Red Wolves, members of the Sun Belt Conference, dropped a 70-56 affair at Marshall Friday and will head west, stopping for this game, before heading back to their Magnolia State home in Jonesboro, Ark.

Following Sunday's action, Morehead State will head back on the road for another tough test at top-25 ranked Ohio State, scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m.

GAME NOTES

• Following cancellation of the Eagles' Bluegrass Showcase game with Detroit Mercy, MSU and Arkansas State agreed on this Sunday matinee. The Red Wolves had three separate opponents cancel before playing their first game Wednesday at Marshall.

• This will mark the first meeting in men's basketball between Arkansas State and Morehead State. The Eagles are 7-4 all-time against teams from the current Sun Belt Conference. ASU is very familiar with the OVC, however, with an 89-92 all-time record.

• Morehead State owns an incredible 23-game winning streak in its home opener for a season. The last time MSU did not win a home opener was a 68-61 setback to Robert Morris on Nov. 25, 1997. MSU has also won 27 of its last 28 home openers since 1993-94.

• Senior forward James Baker, Jr. is the lone senior listed on the roster. DeVon Cooper is also a fourth-year player but redshirted in 2019-20 due to injury and is a redshirt junior. It marks the lowest number of seniors on a Preston Spradlin-coached roster since his first year in 2017-18 when there were no seniors.

• James Baker, Jr. enters the game ranked fourth in career blocked shots in program history with 105. As a sophomore in 2018-19, his 55 rejections led the OVC in games against league foes.

• Freshman forward Johni Broome averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first two collegiate games, against either ranked or receiving votes teams. He also shot 57 percent.

• Sophomore guard Julius Dixon came off the bench to notch a team (and career) high 11 points against Kentucky and netted 10 against Richmond, off the bench again. He is the Eagles' leading scorer, despite not starting either contest. Last season Dixon played only 188 total minutes and scored 61 points.

• Three of the Eagles' first four foes (Kentucky Richmond, Ohio State) are either in the top 25 or just outside.

• In the first two games, Morehead State has received an average of 21 points per outing from non-starting players.

• The 2020-21 roster includes five in-state products from Kentucky high schools. James Baker, Jr. (Meade County), Jaylen Sebree (Christian County), DeVon Cooper (Waggener), Jacob Rice (Johnson Central) and Skyelar Potter (Bowling Green Central) all represent in-state talent.
