MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Danielle Vigil, an accomplished sharpshooter from Yorktown, Va., has inked a National Letter of Intent with the Morehead State rifle program.
Vigil began shooting sporter air rifle in her freshman high school year. She competed in CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) Southeast Regionals in Three Position Air Rifle and JROTC Southeast Regionals Three Position Air Rifle with the American Legion Post 133 Team in Alabama.
She moved from Alabama to Virginia in 2018 and joined the Patriot Shooting Club of Virginia in her hometown of Yorktown. She began precision shooting during her sophomore year. Vigil competed in the 2019 CMP Three Position Air Rifle Nationals, and her Patriot team placed fourth in the 2019 National Junior Olympic Three Position Air Rifle Championships. In 2020, her team was the state champions for the American Legion Three Position Air Rifle competition. In January, she competed in the Junior National Championships conducted at Fort Benning, Ga. Her Patriot Junior Rifle Team placed fourth in Smallbore Three Position. She is the current team captain.

Academically, Vigil has earned highest honors at Tabb High School since her freshman year. She is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National English Honor Society, Beta Club, Key Club, and DECA. She is a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. Vigil's personal bests are 583 in Air Rifle and 571 in Smallbore.
