Eagle Rifle Bests Georgia Southern for Second Straight Day

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Sophomore Katie Frye turned in a personal best on combined score, while senior Alexa Potts and sophomore Erin Diehl both fired 594 totals in Air Rifle as the Eagles topped Georgia Southern for a second straight day

MSU scored a 4,645 to best the Eagles from the Peach State, who scored a 4,396, on Saturday.

Frye, from Greensburg, Pa., shot a team-best 580 in Smallbore and added a 586 in the Air range for her best-ever aggregate at 1166. Her Standing Smallbore total of 191 was a personal record as well.

Diehl shot her best-ever Air score, while freshman Grace Weber shot her collegiate high-water mark for total score at 1154. That included a 586 in Air.

Senior Karly Potts and sophomore Amber Schifano each notched 585's in Air, while freshman Elizabeth Plecity nailed down a 583 score.

Junior Ryan Hinson and Schifano tied for Smallbore at 574, while Plecity joined fellow first-year shooter Bryce Ward came in just one point behind at 573.

Morehead State now turns its attention toward the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, set for Feb. 8-9 at UT Martin.
