EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – In its first overtime game since 2017, the Morehead State Women's Basketball team defeated SIUE, 63-55, on Thursday evening at First Community Arena.

Breuna Jackson made a pair of free throws with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to even the game at 46. On the SIUE's following possession, guard Bria Stallworth drove the basket and had a potential game-winning layup swatted away by Eagles' freshman guard

In overtime, Morehead State forward
Ellie Jo Johnson scored the first three points, sinking a free throw and a layup. With 3:21 remaining Jackson rattled home a three-point bucket to put the Eagles ahead 52-46.
Morehead State never saw its lead drop below the remainder of overtime as it picked up its third consecutive victory over SIUE.
Jackson and Johnson paced scoring in the game as both tallied 16 points. Jackson put in 10 points during the fourth quarter and overtime. Johnson has now scored a career-best 16 points in back-to-back games.
Jackson also tallied a season-best six assists while also grabbing three rebounds and swiping two steals.
Morehead State improved to 9-14 overall for the 2019-20 season and is now 5-6 in the OVC.
Guard Christen King led SIUE with 14 points as the Cougars fell to 3-19 for the season and 1-10 in league play.
Next up, Morehead State travels to Eastern Illinois for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Panthers and Eagles are scheduled to meet at 1:00 p.m. ET at Lantz Arena.
