MOREHEAD. Ky. -- Jacob Rice, the all-time games played and assists leader at nearby Johnson Central High School, has joined the Morehead State men's basketball program. Rice will be a sophomore eligibility-wise on the 2020-21 roster for head coach Preston Spradlin.

Rice appeared in 145 games for Tommy McKenzie's JCHS Golden Eagles from 2014-15 to 2018-19. He dished out more than 500 career assists, the school record.

Rice helped his school win four 57th district titles and a pair of 15th region championships (in 2014-15 and 2018-19). During his senior season, he was the 15th region tournament Most Valuable Player.

In scoring more than 1,500 career points, Rice was also tabbed to all-region and all-area teams and also all-state by the Lexington Herald-Leader. He averaged more than five assists per game his junior and senior years.

Rice was a multiple-sport standout at Johnson Central, seeing much success as well on the cross country courses. His brother, Patrick, was a football student-athlete at Morehead State from 2015-18.
