Throwback Thursday: A Look Back at a "Hall" of Fame Career for Baseball Legend Drew Hall
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Today we look back at one of the best pitchers in the history of Morehead State Baseball, Drew Hall.

A native of Ashland, Ky., Hall was on the mound for the Eagles from 1982-84. Throughout his career, he earned numerous honors including 1984 College Baseball Second-Team All-American as well as being a two-time All-OVC recipient (1983-84). After his stellar 1984 season, he was named OVC Player of the Year, one of only two MSU pitchers to ever receive the award. By the time he left campus, he had set several MSU records including most career strikeouts (202) and most strikeouts in a game (19 vs. EKU).

He became the highest MLB draft pick from a school in the state of Kentucky, an honor he holds to this day, when he went third overall in the 1984 draft that included future Hall of Famers Mark McGwire, Greg Maddux, and Tom Glavine. He is also the highest draft pick in OVC history.

Hall was a member of the 1984 30-man Olympic baseball roster, a team that would eventually earn the silver medal. During his time in the majors, he played for the Cubs (1986-88), the Rangers (1989), and the Expos (1990), finishing with a 9-12 career record with a 5.21 ERA and 148 strikeouts.

In 2007, he was inducted into the Morehead State Athletics Hall of Fame and returned to his alma mater a year later as the pitching coach for head coach Jay Sorg's 2008 staff.
