Cross Country Competes in Head-to-Head Matchup Against OVC RIval Eastern Kentucky

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State Men's and Women's Cross Country teams began their seasons today at the University Club at Arlington with a matchup against OVC foe Eastern Kentucky.
Head coach
Clay Dixon's squad had not competed in an event since November of 2019 at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships.
In the women's 4K, three Eagles finished in the top five, led by sophomore
Mary Alice Thornburg with a time of 15:41.00 to place third. Freshmen
Laikin Tarlton and
Isabella Copher rounded out the MSU top finishes, crossing the line at 15:47.05 and 15:47.77, respectively.
The men were paced by sophomore Kyle Embry, clocking in at 19:31.00 in the 6K event. Sophomore Michael Dunagan came closely behind at 19:47.00 while freshman Peyton Fairchild began his Eagle career with a 19:54.00 finish.
Both teams will return to action on February 5th when they compete in the Murray State Open.
