RESULTS
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Rifle carded its second-best Smallbore total of the season Friday at Murray State before dropping the shoulder-to-shoulder matchup to the Racers, 4699-4660.
Morehead State had a 2307 in Smallbore and a 2353 in Air Rifle. The Racers are ranked eighth in the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association top 20, while the Eagles are 15th.Â
Junior
Bryce Ward paced the Eagles' efforts, including a 591 in Air Rifle - his third straight foray into the 590 club. He also added a 580 Smallbore to finish in fourth place overall with an 1171. Fellow junior
Grace Weber tied her season-best Air total with a 591.
On the Air range, senior
Katie Frye came in with a 589, while freshman
Danielle Vigil totaled a 582. Senior
Amber Schifano shot a 580.Â
In Smallbore, besides Ward, Frye finished at 578, while junior
Elizabeth Plecity fired a season-best 577.Â
Plecity, Ward and sophomore
Sally Reeke each notched one perfect 100 Smallbore target, while Ward and Weber each fashioned a pair of 100 targets in Air.
Matias Kiuru, the reigning OVC Shooter of the Year, finished at the top of the individual leaderboard with an 1184.
The Eagles will remain in Murray to shoot against former OVC rival Jacksonville State Saturday.
