BOX SCORE
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Eagles fell in a Wednesday matinee at UMPC Events Center, as a tough shooting afternoon led to a 69-45 defeat at RMU.
Morehead State (1-4) struggled from the field early in the game, shooting only 26 percent from the floor in the first half, and never truly got going from distance, shooting only 1-17 from beyond the arc, with their only make from three point range coming in the final two minutes of the game.
Despite their struggles, the Eagles still received a strong effort from sophomore
Jada Claude, who put in a career high 15 points to go alongside eight rebounds. Graduate student
Julan McDonald added eight points and eight boards of her own, while fellow graduate student
Terri Smith chipped in eight points as well.
The game stayed tight for much of the first quarter, with the Eagles sticking within one point of the Colonials through the midway point, before Robert Morris used a 10-0 run to build their lead. The Eagles battled following the early run, but never was able to shave the lead closer than nine for the rest of the game.
The fourth quarter was the best frame for Morehead State, however, as they outscored the Colonials 18-15 and outrebounded them substantially, by a 14-4 margin.
The Eagles continue on their four game road trip when they head to Louisville to take on Bellarmine Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
