MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Just a week after setting the program record for combined score, Morehead State rifle upped the mark Saturday in a victory over OVC foe UT Martin.
The Eagles, who were ranked 11th in the CRCA poll this week, shot a school-record 4,685 (after shooting 4,680 last weekend) and also set records for Air Rifle team total (2,365) and Smallbore Standing (764).
In Air Rifle, the record went down with the help of four 590 or better totals. Senior
Erin Diehl fired a team-high 593, followed by juniors
Bryce Ward and
Grace Weber with 591 scorecards. Freshman
Danielle Vigil put the Eagles over the top with a 590. While not "counters," freshman
Andrew Morris (584), senior
Amber Schifano (583), sophomore
Sally Reeke (582) and junior
Elizabeth Plecity (581) also turned in solid performances.
On the Smallbore side of the range, Diehl fashioned a 589 and Ward shot 585. Plecity also hit the 580 mark exactly.
The Eagles will have their final home match of the 2021-22 season on Sunday as UTM and MSU will line up again at Button Range.
