MOREHEAD, Ky. – Both MSU cross country squads finished in the top half of the conference in the 2020-21 OVC Cross Country Championship this afternoon, one of only four schools to do so. The Eagles earned fifth place in the men's 8k while finishing sixth in the women's 5k.
In his first meet of the season,
Garrett Watts earned an MSU-best 17th place in a field of 76 runners in the men's race with a time of 28:22.6 while
Kyle Embry crossed the line at 28:39.9 to place 21st.
Other 8k times and placements for the Eagles include
Peyton Fairchild (32nd, 29:16.3),
Michael Dunagan (42nd, 29:58.2),
Toby Cook (47th, 30:23.5),
Kyler Stewart (56th, 31:31.9), and
Jarrett Forrest (57th, 31:44.4).
Laikin Tarlton led Morehead State in the 5k, placing 24th in a field of 78 runners with a time of 20:45.0.
Olivia Chapman, one of only two seniors running for MSU today, finished closely behind at 20:46.0 to earn 25th place.
