Track Completes Impressive Day at the Adidas Trojan Challenge

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – 
Morehead State Track & Field had another impressive weekend with its performance in the Adidas Trojan Challenge highlighted by six Eagles leading the pack in the Men's 5000 meter run.


Jarrett Mattingly placed first in a race for the second consecutive week with a 15:04.74 finish in the 5000 meter. Garrett Watts, Kyle Embry, Jarrett Forrest, Peyton Fairchild, and Justin Bland finished closely behind to round out the top six in the run.


Michael Dunagan earned a second-place finish in the 800 meter run while Kyler Stewart finished at 1:59.75 to place fifth.


Freshman Laikin Tarlton finished first in the women's side of the 5000 meter with a time of 18:32.80. Isabella Copher placed fourth in the race at 19:54.19.


Mary Alice Thornburg finished at 2:25.42 in the women's 800 meter race to place fourth. Riliegh Owens had an eighth-place finish in the race with a time of 2:30.57.
Sierra Kelley placed sixth in the 400 meter dash at 1:04.43 as Dallas Jones, JD Camacho, Emma Gundler, and Tayla Lee all finished 13th-16th in the race.


The four-woman team of Camacho, Lee, Gundler, and Owens earned a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay at 4:20.46.


The Eagles are back in action on April 3rd with a showing at the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by OVC rival Southeast Missouri.
