MSU Track Team Sees Several Eagles Earn Top-10 Finishes at Rick Erdmann Twilight

RICHMOND, Ky. – Morehead State Track completed its weekend of action late Saturday night after two days of competition at the Rick Erdmann Twilight. The Eagles were led by several top 10 performances including a first-place finish from Toby Cook in the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:13.99.

The Men's 1500 meter saw four Eagles in the top six as Justin Chavez (second, 4:15.53), Cole Ralenkotter (fourth, 4:22.01), and Josh Grogan (sixth, 4:31.03) all joined Cook among the top finishers. Jarrett Forrest (sixth, 15:28.55) and Peyton Fairchild (seventh, 15:33.48) each represented MSU in the top 10 of the 5000 meter race on Friday while Michael Dunagan (ninth, 1:56.69) and Darby Pillow (tenth, 1:57.70) each placed among the top 10 in the 800 meter event. The four-man team of Dunagan, Pillow, Justin Bland, and Forrest placed third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:30.44.

Jarrett Mattingly's time of 14:24.29 in the 5000 meter was the fourth-best finish in MSU history in the event.

Maya Andrews had the best placement for the women's squad as she finished in fourth place in the 400 meter race with a time of 57.70 seconds. Kilani Harvey finished fifth in the 100 meter dash preliminaries at 12.15 seconds to qualify for the finals in the event where she later crossed the line at 12.18 seconds to place sixth. Maggie Kiper earned a fifth-place finish in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:57.77.

The women's 4x400 relay squad, consisting of Andrews, Dallas Jones, Olivia Chapman, and Sierra Kelley, crossed the line at 4:06.95 to earn fourth place.

The Eagles are back in action on April 24 with an appearance in the Redhawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. Morehead State will compete in its second meet hosted by Miami (Ohio) after previously running in the Blizzard Buster on March 20.
