OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – Claiming the program's best finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship since 2017-18, Morehead State women's golf wrapped the 2021 OVC Women's Golf Championship with a fifth-place finish—the team's third of the season—as the 2020-21 campaign drew to a close Tuesday.

Propelled by four top-25 finishes, two of which were top-15 placements, Morehead State fashioned scores of 306-313-303-922 to tally the fifth-place finish, jumping into the top-five on the final day of the three-day event. The Eagles' final round 303 tied for the program's third-lowest round at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove.

Securing the highest finish for a Morehead State true freshman at the OVC Women's Golf Championship since Gabriela Villalba Arias (t-12th) in 2015-16, freshman Oliva Hensley captured a 13th-place finish. She carded scores of 73-78-77-228 with her opening round 73 marking Morehead State's lowest round of the event and tying for the third-lowest single round in program history at the OVC Championship at RTJ Hampton Cove (2015-17; 2021).

Also competing in her first OVC Women's Golf Championship, sophomore MacKenzie Neal tied for 15th, marking in totals of 77-79-74-230. She jumped eight spots on the final leaderboard, representing Morehead State's biggest mover of the event.

Senior Gypsie Hutchinson (77-80-76-233) and redshirt senior Bridget Connolly (79-76-80-235) represented the remainder of the Eagles' top-25 finishes, tying for 21st and 25th, respectively. Rounding out the Eagles' leaderboard was sophomore Hailey Rietz who finished tied for 33rd, carding scores of 83-84-76-243.

• Carding eagles on the RTJ Hampton Cove's Highland's Course's Par-5 ninth hole in the opening and closing rounds of the 2021 OVC Women's Golf Championship, Olivia Hensley tallied two of five total eagles in the tournament field to lead the field in the category.
• Hensley also finished tied for 14th in the tournament field in total birdies, carding seven total over three rounds. Hailey Rietz who tied for 20th with six birdies joined her in the event's top-20 in the category.
• Four Eagle golfers finished top-20 in the tournament field in total pars. Gypsie Hutchinson led the way with 35 total pars while MacKenzie Neal (34), Bridget Connoly (33), and Hensley (32) finished tied for eighth, tied for 14th, and tied for 17th, respectively.
• Neal wrapped the event tied for eighth in the field in Par-3 Scoring while Hensley finished tied for 11th in Par-4 Scoring and tied for eighth in Par-5 Scoring to lead Morehead State.
