Beach Volleyball Improves to 7-0 With a Two Match Sweep of In-State Foe Eastern Kentucky

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Hitting the sand at Fazoli's Breadstick Beach for the first time during the 2021 season, Morehead State beach volleyball extended its winning streak to 14 matches after sweeping in-state rival Eastern Kentucky in a pair of dual matches Wednesday.
The Eagles, improving to 7-0 on the year and 6-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play did not drop a set over two matches against the Colonels (0-7; 0-6 OVC), capturing all 24 sets played Wednesday across flights one through five and the extra flight.
With the victories, Morehead State completed the season sweep of Eastern Kentucky after also sweeping Tuesday's match at Eastern Kentucky, improving to 7-0 all-time versus the Colonels.
The Eagles wrap the 2021 regular season Saturday and Sunday, competing at the Ohio Valley Conference Weekend at Eastern Kentucky. Morehead State opens with dual matches versus Austin Peay and Chattanooga Saturday before facing UT Martin and Jacksonville State Sunday.

NOTABLE
- With a pair of victories Wednesday, Morehead State improved to 7-0 in its series with in-state rival Eastern Kentucky, the most victories against a single opponent in program history.
- Not dropping a single set in either match versus Eastern Kentucky Wednesday, Morehead State posted back-to-back perfect matches for the first time in the 2021 season and for the first time since doing so in four straight matches to open the 2020 campaign.
- Collecting a pair of flight victories Wednesday, Liz Allen and Olivia Montelisciani improved to 9-3 as a pair. The pair's nine victories are tied for the third-most in program history while Allen marks the third partner Montelisciani has won eight or more matches with, joining Georgia Childers (eight) and Olivia Lohmeier (nine).
- In addition to each of the six Eagles in the top-five (includes one tie) in career individual flight victories picking up two flight victories Wednesday, each of Morehead State's other four players in the top-five pairings—Taylor Hodges (17; seventh), Anya Reinhard (12; tied for 12th), Trinity Miller (10; 14th), and Bridget Bessler (seven; tied for 15th)—picked up two wins to enter the top-15 in career flight victories.
