BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After going 7-0 from Morehead State's top flight in Ohio Valley Conference competition last week, Morehead State beach volleyball's
Hannah Keating and
Allison Whitten earned OVC Pair of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
The selection marks the first Pair of the Week honor for the duo who achieved American Volleyball Coaches Association Top Flight Status. The honor marks the first of Whitten's career while Keating becomes the third player in OVC history to capture Pair of the Week honors, having captured the inaugural honor with
Trinity Miller in 2020.
Keating and Whitten were instrumental in helping Morehead State to a 6-1 week, a week that captured the Eagles the first OVC Beach Volleyball Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in this weekend's OVC Beach Volleyball Championship.
Teaming together for the first time since 2019, Keating and Whitten have reeled off eight straight victories from the No. 1 flight, adding two victories in the No. 2 flight to hold a 10-1 record on the season with the pair's eight wins from the top flight tie for the most among primary pairs in the OVC.
Overall, Keating and Whitten improved to 27-6 as a pair with a 10-1 regular season, extending the duo's program-record win total. The pair's .818 career flight winning percentage ranks third-best in program history.
Morehead State, who received a bye in the six-team OVC Beach Volleyball Championship after capturing the Regular Season Championship, open the OVC Tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. ET, facing either No. 4 Austin Peay or No. 5 Jacksonville State in the double-elimination tournament.
