Cross Country returns to the course against Eastern Kentucky Friday
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Cross Country opens their 2021 campaign this Friday in a head-to-head matchup against in-state rival Eastern Kentucky.

The matchup will be held in Richmond, Ky., at Elmwood Mansion with the women's 4K set for 9:30 am, followed by the men's 5K at 10 a.m.

On the men's side for Morehead State, the roster will be a mix of youth and experience, with no juniors or seniors on the team, but six returning members. A trio of runners who found success last season, Michael Dunagan, Kyle Embry, and Garrett Watts, leads the Eagles.

Lone senior Madison Pelfrey and standout sophomore Mary Alice Thornburg look to lead a similarly youthful women's cross country team that features five newcomers and seven returners.

After this contest, the Eagles will compete in the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn., on September 17.
