MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The first in one of the most highly-ranked recruiting classes in program history, Mekhi Grant has inked his National Letter of Intent to join the Morehead State men's basketball program for the 2023-24 season.

The 6-foot-10 forward is playing his final prep season this year at Word of God Academy in North Carolina. He is a native of Charlotte, N.C., who played previously for Combine Academy.

"We are thrilled to add Mekhi to our family here at Morehead State. He is an extremely talented forward who is just scratching the surface on his development," sad head coach Preston Spradlin. "His athleticism and versatility will be electric in our style of play on both sides of the ball. His pedigree, and playing at a high level school like Word of God along other talented players, will provide him the competitive environment to prepare him for the transition to college. Mekhi's personality and positive energy are contagious, and he will quickly become a fan favorite among our fan base."

In 2021-22 at Combine, Grant averaged 11.4 points and 9.3 rebounds, along with 2.1 blocks. He was named an Underclassmen All-American in 2019 and helped Combine win a state championship in 2020.

Grant also played for CP3, Chris Paul's NYBL AAU program.

Spradlin, and his staff, expect to announce additional signees in the coming days.
