Rifle Program Adds Four Newcomers for 2022-23, Including First-Ever Transfer Under Coach Joseph

Alan Joseph is excited for the addition of four athletes who will join the program for the 2022-23 season.
The newest Eagles are incoming freshmen Adrianna Beard (Grand Haven, Mich.), Hayden Bell (Rockland, Pa.) and Holly Freeman (Poquoson, Va.) and Alaska-Fairbanks transfer Cassidy Wilson (Spokane, Wash.). Wilson will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Beard started her shooting career through 4-H with BB Gun, then moved to Air Rifle. She has received two Distinguished Expert Awards in Air Rifle and Three-Position Air Rifle from both the NRA and the CMP. Beard competed at Winter Air Gun in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2019. She competed in the Junior Olympics in 2019 and 2021. Her Air Rifle personal best is 587 and Smallbore high is 569. She has trained with the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Rifle and Pistol Club and earned her Rifle Instructor Certification from the 4-H in 2019.
Academically, Beard has been enrolled in Honors classes since freshman year and Advanced Placement classes since sophomore year. She has been a member of the National Honor Society since her junior year of high school. She volunteers as an equipment manager for her high school football team, and does volunteer work through her church and a local horse farm. She has one older sister and four younger brothers. Beard plans to major in Criminology at MSU with a career interest to become a wildlife conservation officer.
Bell started his shooting career through the Oil City (Pa.) Izaak Walton junior rifle program, learning both Smallbore and Air Rifle. He earned the CMP Distinguished Service Award in 2021. Bell has competed in all National Junior Olympic Championship matches since 2017, and placed second in both Air Rifle and Smallbore in the J3 (Under age 15) class in 2018. Bell has also competed in the CMP National 3 Position Championships since 2018 and the Smallbore National Matches since 2019. In 2019, he was a member of the Junior Champion team four-person team, and in the same year he was a member of the two-person team which finished in third place. In 2021 his Smallbore 4-person team placed third.
In addition to shooting, Bell also enjoys raising livestock and animal projects in the Venango County (Pa.) 4-H program. He has been enrolled in honors classes in math and sciences since sophomore year of high school. Bell plans to major in Mathematics at MSU.
Freeman began shooting when she was 12 years old at the Lafayette Gun Club in Yorktown, Va. She participated in the Winchester/NRA Smallbore program where she earned the Expert and the Distinguished Expert shooting awards. After earning her Distinguished Expert award, she started shooting precision Air Rifle and Smallbore competitions with the Patriot Shooting Club of Virginia. Freeman was selected Team Captain of the Patriot Shooting Team in both her junior and senior years. She has competed in several National Championship matches hosted by the CMP, the US Army, and USA Shooting. These matches include the 2019 and 2020 CMP 3PAR National Championships, the 2019, 2020, and 2021 U.S. Army Junior National Championships and the 2020 and 2021 Winter Air Gun Championships.
Freeman's personal bests are 580-21x in Smallbore, 589-32x in 3-Position Air Rifle, and 589-34x in Air Rifle. Holly is a member of the Children of the American Revolution, (Moore House Society) and played on the Poquoson High School softball team. She plans to major in Finance at MSU.
The first-ever transfer to the program under Joseph, Wilson attended and competed for Alaska-Fairbanks 2020-21. She was named to the UAF Chancellor's List every semester while a student there and was named a CRCA Scholastic All-American in 2020 and 2021.
Wilson has competed in the CMP Three Position Air Rifle National Championships and USA Shooting Junior Olympic Three Position National Championships five times. She won the silver medal in the USA Shooting Junior Olympic Three Position National Championships in 2018. In 2019, Wilson was team captain of Spokane Junior Rifle Club Gold Team that won the CMP 3P Air Rifle National Championship. She has competed in USA Shooting Junior Olympic Shooting Championships four times for International Air Rifle and four times for 50-Meter Three Position Smallbore Rifle. She has competed in the USAMU Junior National Air Rifle Championships at Fort Benning, Ga., four times with an appearance in the Final in 2018. Wilson plans to be a Pyschology major while attending MSU.
