Baseball Projected to Finish Third in OVC; Feltner Tabbed Preseason All-OVC
MOREHEAD, Ky.—After a 24-23 season in 2021, the Morehead State Baseball team has been picked to finish third in the OVC by the head baseball coaches and communications directors in the conference.

Last season, the Eagles finished third and qualified for the shortened OVC Tournament. Following a 0-5 start to the season, the Eagles went on a tear, winning seven of eight, including an upset victory over the then #1 Louisville Cardinals, and only dropping three series the rest of the season. As Head Coach Mik Aoki enters his third season at the helm in 2022, the Eagles will be looking to build upon the improvements they made in 2021 and pursue the fifth OVC Tournament Championship in program history.

One big reason to believe the Eagles will continue to soar in 2022 is the return of the reigning OVC Freshman of the Year Jackson Feltner, who has been tabbed preseason All-OVC as well as a Third-Team preseason All-American heading into his sophomore season.

During Feltner's breakout season as a true freshman in 2021, he was consistently a problem for opposing pitchers when he stepped into the batter's box. While posting an impressive triple-slash line (batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage) of .390/.452/.652, he also became the fifth freshman in program history and first since 2009 to hit double-digit homers, finishing with 11 on the season.

Morehead State will open the season in Georgia with a four-game series at Kennesaw State from Feb. 18-20, including a doubleheader on Saturday.
