RESULTS

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Morehead State women's golf concluded play at the Rivertowne Invitational Tuesday afternoon, where they finished the two-day event third, carding a 305-296-301—902.

"I'm very impressed with how our team played this week. The conditions and course were quite tough the first two rounds, so it was exciting how our team rose to the occasion against a very strong field," head coach Stephanie Barker said.

Junior Hailey Rietz paced the Eagles, fashioning rounds of 75-70-74—219, finishing tied for fourth overall. The Rancho Cordova, Calif. native had one of the best performances of her collegiate career, her second top-5 finish to date and the lowest third-round score of her career. Her rounds were highlighted by consistent play, finishing in the top-10 for scoring average in all distances, and collected the third most pars in the tournament, with 36.

"We are proud of Hailey's strong performance and quite proud of another fantastic team effort," said Barker.

Three other Eagles finished in the top-25 including Hanna Montgomery, Olivia Hensley, and Bridget Connolly. Montgomery finished in 16th, due to an even score on par 5s. Hensley finished in 17th following the lowest round three of any Eagle, and Connolly finished tied for 21st, finishing one par under Rietz with 35.

Sophomore MacKenzie Neal rounded out the team carding scores of 81-76-78—235, finishing tied for ninth in par 3 scoring.

Sophomore Alina-Sophie Koch competed as an individual and fired an 88-78-78—244, with her second round being highlighted by an eagle on the third hole.

As a team, Morehead State tied for the most pars in the tournament with 162, matching the total of tournament champion Oral Roberts.

The field included one other team from the Ohio Valley Conference, Tennessee Tech, who the Eagles topped by 58 strokes, a marked improvement from the last time the two teams saw each other.

"We have a lot of good things to build on for our next event in March," Barker added.

Morehead State returns to stroke play on March 14 at the WKU Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Fla. The two-day event will take place at Lake Jovita Golf Club.
