RESULTS (UTM | EIU)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Olivia Lohmeier and
Allison Whitten claimed two victories at the top flight pairing, the Morehead State Beach Volleyball team split its last two matches of the first Ohio Valley Conference weekend Saturday at Chattanooga.
The Eagles faltered 4-1 to UT Martin in the morning but rebounded to defeat Eastern Illinois by an identical score. MSU is now 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Against EIU, Whitten and Lohmeier anchored the lineup with a straight set win (21-13, 21-11). On court three,
Olivia Montelisciani and
Bella Williams also claimed a straight set winner (21-14, 21-12).
Raegan Alexander and
Irene Wogenstahl dominated on court five, winning 21-5, 21-10. Court four went to three sets, but
Abby Hulsman and
Margaret Musselman prevailed 21-15, 18-21, 15-5.
In the opening match, Lohmeier and Whitten outlasted their foes from UT Martin 21-17, 21-15. After taking the first set to extra points,
Anya Reinhard and
Trinity Miller ended up falling 23-21, 21-14. Williams and Montelisciani won their second set 21-19 to force a third, but fell 15-7 in the deciding set.
The Eagles' next action is set for April 12 when they travel to face Catawba (N.C.) and UNC Wilmington at Catawba.
