Baseball Heads to Cape Girardeau for Three Games at SEMO
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Following their comeback win over Ohio Tuesday, the Morehead State University baseball team hopes to use that win as a spark as they head to SEMO for a three-game set. The Eagles (16-19, 5-4 OVC) face a tall task this weekend, as the Redhawks (25-10, 8-4 OVC) are third in the conference, and hold a 17-1 record in Cape Girardeau this season.

All three games of the series will air on ESPN+, with live stats available as well. Friday's opener is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with Saturday and Sunday's games scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET and 2:00 p.m. ET, respectively.

NOTABLE
  • Morehead State came back to win despite being down eight runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday, their largest comeback of the 2022 season.
  • Isaias Guzman has been on fire at the plate in April, hitting .361 after missing the month of March due to injury. All four of his home runs this season have come in the month, including his go-ahead grand slam Tuesday vs. Ohio.
  • Ryley Preece became the first Eagle to reach double-digit homers in 2022 on Tuesday with his eighth inning grand slam. Preece leads the Eagles with 10 home runs on the season (5th in the OVC) and leads the conference in walks with 32.
  • Jackson Feltner's solo shot Tuesday moved him into to a tie for sixth in the conference in home runs with nine. He also sits in a tie for fifth in hits (49) and fourth in doubles (12) with teammate Colton Becker, who leads the OVC in total sacrifice hits with 10 (seven sac-bunts, three sac-flies).
  • Sunday starter Grant Herron pitched a gem in Sunday's loss to Belmont. The right-hander threw five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts; his longest outing of the season to date.
  • Morehead State's closer John Bakke is third in the OVC in saves with seven, and also sits tied for eighth in strikeouts with 42.
  • SEMO currently leads the OVC in home runs with 60 as a team on the season, but Friday starter Luke Helton hasn't allowed a long ball since the first game of the season at Kennesaw State.
