RESULTS (EIU | UTM)

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The pair of Bella Williams and Olivia Montelisciani swept both matches Friday as the Morehead State Beach Volleyball team won one and lost one on day one of the final OVC Weekend before the league title weekend.

The Eagles did not lose a set in defeating Eastern Illinois 5-0 in the opening match before dropping a 4-1 battle to league leader UT Martin in the early evening. MSU now sits at 8-8 overall and 2-4 in the OVC.

Williams and Montelisciani, playing No. 2, improved to 11-5 this year and 5-1 in the 2s as they knocked off EIU's second flight 21-12, 21-12 before handing UTM a 22-20, 21-13 setback.

At No. 1, Olivia Lohmeier and Allison Whitten added win to their program-record victory totals, sweeping EIU 26-24, 21-18. At No. 3, the Eagles rearranged their typical pair, this time going with Anya Reinhard and Margaret Musselman. In their first matchup together this year, that pair beat EIU 21-10, 21-10.

Trinity Miller moved to No. 4 and paired up with Abby Hulsman to win 21-8, 21-4 against EIU. Bridget Bessler returned to the lineup and teamed with Raegan Alexander to win 21-7, 21-18 versus EIU. They also took UTM to an extra set before falling 11-21, 21-12, 17-19.

Against UTM, the extra pair of Andrea Grimes and Irene Wogenstahl rallied and outlasted their foes 10-21, 21-17, 15-11.
