MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State men's basketball has added a fifth-year transfer in Branden Maughmer.
Maughmer, a Chillicothe, Ohio, native and a 6-3 guard was a four-year standout at Cedarville (Ohio) where he finished with 1,709 career points, 402 assists, 531 rebounds and 202 steals.
"Branden comes from a winning culture at Cedarville, where he led them to their first ever NCAA tournament," said head coach
Preston Spradlin. "He is a proven leader who brings great experience to our program. He is another versatile guard who can create for others and score efficiently. His demeanor is that of a veteran who understands what it takes to win consistently."
He was named All Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) four times and was a three-time All-GMAC Defensive Team. Maughmer was also a Three-time All NCCAA Regional Team pick, a three-time NCCAA All American and two-time NCCAA Regional Player of the Year.
His Cedarville career totals also included 48 percent field goal accuracy and 81 percent free throw shooting. He averaged 16.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in 2021-22 when he also registered 10 games with 20+ points.
As a two-sport athlete at Chillicothe High School, he was named FAC Player of the Year twice in both football and basketball. He was also twice named to the Division II All-Ohio team in basketball and two times as All Ohio team as a quarterback for the football team.
Maughmer is the son of Mike and Tara Maughmer and has one younger brother Jayvon who is a sophomore guard for Cedarville's men's basketball team.
