MOREHEAD, Ky. – Men's golf competed in the Carpenter-Chaney Classic, finishing third amongst a field loaded with OVC rivals. The Eagles picked up two wins in three matches in what was a preview for the final round format of this month's OVC Championship.

Morehead State opened the two-day event with a 4-1-1 victory over SIUE, before falling to top-ranked Tennessee Tech in the second round. The Eagles bounced back in the final round of the tournament, taking out in-state rival Murray State to claim third place.

Ryan Gillum and Nolan Piazza led the way for the Eagles, as they both went undefeated throughout the tournament with matching 2-0-1 records. Joe Muschong added two more wins to his program record for all-time match play victories, now giving him nine for his career. Fellow-fifth year Zac Viminitz also added a pair of victories.

Cameron Travis picked up a win against SIUE, while Blake Evans tied with his Tennessee Tech counterpart.

The Eagles return to the links next week at the Missouri Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The two-day tournament tees off from the Club at Old Hawthorne.
