Men's Basketball Eagles Ink Transfer Kalil Thomas
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Kalil Thomas, a 6-5 guard from New Orleans who was a standout at UMass-Lowell for three seasons, has transferred to Morehead State and will have two years of eligibility remaining for the men's basketball Eagles.

"Kalil will provide us with great length and versatility on both ends of the floor," said head coach Preston Spradlin. "He is an explosive wing who can stretch the floor with his shooting and attack off the bounce. He will fit well with our versatile wings who can defend multiple positions to keep our defense atop the OVC."

Thomas hit 45 percent of his shots in three seasons for the River Hawks, averaging 9.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 2021-22. In 2020-21 he nailed better than 45 percent from three-point range. He also ranked second on the team with 53 assists in 2021-22.

Thomas was a selection to the Basketball Hall of Fame showcase in 2021.

At New Orleans' Holy Cross High School, Thomas was a three-time all-district selection as well as two-time all-metro. He scored 1,000 career points, averaging 16.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a senior. He also received all-state honors following his senior season and was an all-star and Elite Team selection.

He is the son of Lance Thomas and Michel Dabon and has one younger sibling, Hollis.
