MOREHEAD, Ky. – Due to weather canceling Tuesday's game vs. Eastern Kentucky, the Morehead State baseball team should be well rested heading into a big weekend series with OVC foe Eastern Illinois. The Eagles have won three straight but face a tall task this weekend, as the Panthers are batting .298 as a team this season.
All games will be on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided. Due to forecasted inclement weather, the series will now take place on Saturday and Sunday with a doubleheader Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET and a single game Sunday at 2 p.m.

NOTABLE

• Jackson Feltner has followed his OVC Freshman of the Year season in 2021 with an even better season thus far in 2022. Feltner sits in the top five in batting average (.399, 4^th), slugging percentage (.702, 5^th), OPS (1.168, 4^th), doubles (16, 3^rd), and hits (67, T-1^st) in the OVC. He is tied for seventh in the OVC in home runs as well, leading the Eagles with 11, becoming the first Eagle to post double-digit home runs in both his freshman and sophomore seasons since Taylor Davis in 2009 and 2010.
• Saturday's game two probable starter Grant Herron posted a career-high 11 K's in a shutout victory over UT Martin in game one of last Friday's doubleheader. His performance earned him OVC Pitcher of the Week honors, making him the first Eagle to win the award since Jason Goe in 2019.
• Alex Jacobs has been impossible to keep off the base paths in 2022, as he has been on base in 41 of 42 games this season. His current on-base streak sits at 40 games, just 10 shy of Reid Leonard's school record 50-game streak in 2018. Jacobs is second in batting average on the team (.371), and is tied for third in the OVC in triples with three.
• John Bakke has been a force on the mound for Morehead State this season, as he leads both the team and the OVC in ERA (2.30) and opposing batting average (.199), and is sixth in the conference in strikeouts with 54. Bakke has primarily closed in 2022, but twirled a complete game three-hitter last Friday vs. UT Martin, striking out six batters in his second start of the season.
• Ryley Preece leads the OVC in walks with 36. He sits third on the team in on-base percentage (.421) behind Feltner and Jacobs.
• Nick Gooden has had a fine season for Morehead State thus far, becoming an everyday player in the infield. The Berlin, Pa., native currently has a six-game hit-streak, is batting .321 with four home runs and 11 doubles, and holds a .944 fielding percentage while splitting time between second and third base.
• Eastern Illinois has technically played seven home games this season, going 4-3, but the weekend series will be the first time the Panthers have played in their home ballpark Coaches Stadium in 2022.
