MOREHEAD, KY --Sandra Lin, Jayden Rhodes and Valentina Saric combined to score 34 of Morehead State's 45 total points, but the Eagles fell in a tough battle against Little Rock Thursday, 58-45.
Lin led the Eagles with 14 points and seven assists. Rhodes added 11 points and two steals and Saric helped out with nine points off the bench.
Saric pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Morehead State, grabbing 10 boards and turning them into six second chance points.
The Eagles continue their homestand Saturday with a 1:00 PM matinee against SIUE.Â
How It Happened
After falling behind 4-3, Morehead State went on a 5-0 run with 7:33 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Veronica Charles, to take an 8-4 lead. The Eagles then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 20-13.
The Eagles continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 32-20 halftime deficit.
Morehead State came out of halftime on fire, going on an 8-0 run, punctuated by a three from Rhodes, to trim its deficit to 32-28 with 5:30 to go in the third. Little Rock countered and stretched its lead to 45-38 heading into the fourth. Morehead State knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 18 total points.
Morehead State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 58-45.
