Women's Hoops Looks to Keep Momentum in Battle of the Eagles

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
It's a battle of the Eagles as Morehead State hosts Tennessee Tech Thursday evening.

Morehead State is coming off a 64-60 victory against SIUE Saturday afternoon. Veronica Charles posted a career-high 21 points and her late three in the final minute propelled the Eagles in the win. Hallie Rhodes added 12 points and Sophie Benharouga helped out with 12 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

Tennessee Tech is entering Thursday's contest after a nail biter with Little Rock. The Golden Eagles battled back from a 12-point deficit, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Trojans. Maaliya Owens posted 20 points in the 66-63 loss.

Tip-off is slated for 5:00 PM and can be found on ESPN+ or listened to on the Eagle Sports Radio Network.

NOTABLE
• Sandra Lin now sits at 116 assists on the year and is the first Eagle since 2018-19 to reach 100 assists in a single season. Lin also leads the conference, averaging 5.5 per game, and is in the top-20 in the nation in total assists and assists per game. She is also the first Eagle since 2014-15 to record multiple 10+ assists games in a season.

• Veronica Charles notched a career-high 21 points in the win over SIUE, which was also her 13th double-digit scoring performance of the season.

• In conference play this season, the Eagles have displayed accurate shooting, ranking first in 3-point field goals made, second in 3-point field goal percentage, and third in field goal percentage.

• Veronica Charles came through with her second go-ahead three pointer in the final minute to lift the Eagles to victory. She is the first Eagle player since 2017 to have multiple game winning shots in the final minute.

• In the last four games, the Eagles have matched or led their opponents in second chance points, including Tolisha Walker who pulled down three offensive boards to help lead the team to 15 second chance points against SIUE.

• Morehead State has continued their success in tight contests, improving to 4-1 on the season in games decided by five or less points. The four wins are the most for the program since they had eight such victories in the 2017-18 season.
