Rivalry Week: Football Eagles Host Dayton Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
  It's rivalry week for Morehead State football. The Eagles host the Dayton Flyers in a PFL showdown kicking off Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at Jayne Stadium.

The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Radio Network with WIVY-96.3 FM serving as flagship station. Chuck Mraz, Jason Blanton and Tom Lewis provide the radio call. Fans can also hear it on MSUEagles.com, WGOH-100.9 FM/1370 AM and WMST-106.9 FM/1150 AM. The game will stream live on ESPN+ with Jared Stacy and Hunter Hurst teaming up as the voices for the second straight season.

While trailing 20-7 in the all-time series, the Eagles have won two of the last three meetings against Dayton at home, including a 45-38 overtime thriller in 2021. Last year's matchup in Dayton featured heavy snow early and throughout the game.

GAME NOTES
• During the last four meetings with Dayton, the winner has scored 45+ points.

• Morehead State ranks either No. 1 or 2 in the PFL in eight NCAA stats categories. The Eagles lead the PFL in third down conversion percentage (41%) and fourth down conversion defense. MSU ranks second in the conference in  converting red zone opportunities into points (92 percent).

•  Quarterback Carter Cravens leads the PFL in touchdown passes (8) and ranks second in passing yards per game (234.8). The Cypress, Texas native also ranks first in the PFL in points responsible for per game (12.0). Cravens generated 285 total yards Saturday against Drake. He has led the team in rushing yards in two games (82 vs. WVSU and 64 vs. Drake).

• In three of the Eagles' four games, the opponent offensive unit has managed to only drive into the red zone two or fewer times.

• Receiver Ryan Upp set career highs with 10 catches for 130 yards and a TD against Drake. Upp's totals were the most for an Eagle since B.J. Byrd had 14 for 223 in 2021. Since 2019, Upp is just the second Eagle to have 10+ receptions in a game.

•  Defensive back Cooper Krezek now has nine career games with double digit tackles after recording 10 stops vs. Drake. Krezek has the most career tackles (247) of any active defensive player and has 16 career tackles for loss.

• Linebacker Jahleel Holmes ranks 33rd among all FCS players in tackles per game (8.8). Holmes has a pair of nine-tackle efforts and an 11-stop game in the season opener.

•  Defensive back Jihad McCall collected MSU's first interception of the year at St. Thomas. McCall is looking for his first blocked punt of 2023, after recording an FCS best four blocks last season.

•  The PFL leader in attendance for 10 consecutive seasons, MSU averaged more than 7,000 fans this season in its first two home games.

•  MSU's season captains are Nathan Hazlett, James Louis and Cooper Krezek.

• Junior running back James Louis and junior defensive back Cooper Krezek were honored on the official preseason All-Pioneer Football League team.
