MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The MSU rifle team is set to kick off the 2024-25 season at the University of Kentucky on Saturday. All results from matches this season can be accessed live on NCAARifle.org.
Head Coach
Alan Joseph is now in his 11th season of coaching at MSU and has been OVC Coach of the Year three times.
Adrianna Beard,
Hayden Bell, and
Holly Freeman will be returning for their third seasons, although Freeman is expected to take a redshirt season this year.
Cooper Gray and
Maria Koenig will be returning for their second season with the rifle team. Joseph has five freshmen on his team this season -
Haven Eastman,
Victoria Koenig,
George Kuhne,
Trey Myers, and
Chloe Shannon.
"We are ready for the start of the season," said Joseph. "We have five new members to add to five returners. It will be an exciting year for Eagle Rifle."
Of the notable returnees from last season, Beard led the shooters with a combined score of 1165.5, Koenig had 1159.4 and Bell fashioned a 1155.8.
Last season the Air Rifle school record was broken when the Eagles competed against UT Martin on Nov. 11, with the team total being 2368. Beard also established the Smallbore individual school record when she shot 590 with 36 centers on Feb. 10 against VMI.
MSU's first home matches are set for Nov. 1-2 when fellow OVC school UTM comes to town.
