MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State football student-athletes
Matthew McClelland and
Ryan Upp headlined a group of 18 Eagles who earned All-Pioneer Football League accolades for the 2024 season.
Defensive back McClelland was named first-team, while wide receiver Upp is on the second-team.
McClelland, a redshirt sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., finished the 12-game ledger with the league's highest tackle total. He had 109 total stops, including 53 solo tackles and 56 assists. McClelland also led the team with four interceptions, had four pass break ups and a fumble recovery. McClelland ended with six games in double-figure tackles, including a career-high 18 against Davidson. He helped the Eagle defense limit the opponents to 10 points or less in six of the seven victories.
Upp, a senior from Leesburg, Va., had 42 catches for 573 yards and five touchdowns. He posted two 90+ yard games, including a season-best 97 in a win over Presbyterian. He wrapped up his four years as an Eagles wuith 14 touchdown catches and 1,417 yards in the aerial game.
